bigstock_Stage_Light_Beam_8091319I happened upon Onstage Leadership unknowingly. Whether it was fate or just an amazingly happy accident, I feel so fortunate to have had the experience and it has changed my life forever.  I was a little lost in life and was feeling that my job did not fulfill me or give me a sense of purpose.  But I was looking at it all wrong.  Onstage Leadership made me realize that I need to give myself a sense of purpose and as long as I am pursuing my Super Objective, that would translate to fulfillment not only in my career but in all facets of my life.

To let you know a little about me, I tend to be a worrier.  I stress about what others will think or how they will feel.  That fear paralyzes me and I end up being unable to make tough decisions, especially when they affect other people.  When Kimberly spoke about a Super Objective, she talked about focusing outside of yourself.  It was an epiphany for me.  When I stopped worrying about myself and how others would feel about me and instead took actions that support my Super Objective, expanding the potential of others, it became easy to make a decision and feel good about it.  When I am present in the moment, truly listening and connecting with the people around me, I am able to confidently articulate a clear course of action.  My Super Objective has allowed me to get out of the way of myself and move forward.  So much of the anxiety and stress I put on myself is removed and instead I can have a positive impact on those around me – which was always my goal.

Now I am not saying I am perfect in my quest to obtain my Super Objective.  I find myself getting pulled into old habits through the course of daily life.  If I catch myself doing that, I remind myself of my purpose.  I am almost always instantly able to view the situation differently and react in a way that I am much prouder of.  I have also found a lot of support in my fellow Onstage Leadership graduates – especially the ones I went through the course with.  Our group developed a close bond during our time together and when I am really struggling, a quick conversation with one of them can lift my spirits, provide perspective and get me back on track.  And I find the more I focus on my Super Objective, the more naturally it comes to me.

Thank you to Kimberly and Onstage Leadership for igniting this change in my life.  Finding and connecting to my Super Objective has brought new meaning to my life and allowed me to put my fear and self-doubt aside.  I feel freer, happier, and more confident than I ever have.  Look out world – I want to expand your potential!
