Taking the Leap

Woman LeapingI get to be a student today!  I’m very excited.  I love to learn.  About a month and a half ago I signed myself up for a blogging class at the Gotham Writer’s Workshop (don’t you just love that name?).  And then of course I got too impatient to wait until after I took the class before I started blogging so I’ve likely subjected you, dear readers (whoever you are…if you even exist), to a whole host of blogging faux pas.  Please forgive me.  I know not what I do.

But I’ve found that actually, teaching myself and learning as I go is a pretty powerful.  It’s served me well in life to jump into things that I know nothing about because sometimes knowing too much is a barrier that keeps me from jumping.  There’s also value in figuring out my own perspective about things, before being told how I should think about something.

“Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark.”
― Agnes De Mille

So it will be interesting to see what changes in my blogging, post-blogging-class.  But I have to say, I’m glad I got a head-start.

What about you?  What leaps have you taken into the dark?  What did you learn?  What leap will you take today?
